HOW TO INSTALL IN AN ATTIC SPACE

  1. Start at the peak of your roof. If you have a ridge vent, start 6" from either side of the ridge vent.

  2. Using a staple gun with 5/16” staples, staple sections of RadiantGUARD across the bottom of the roof rafters either A) horizontally across the attic OR B) down from the peak to within 12 inches of the wall plate on the attic floor. Staples should be placed every 4 to 6 inches to properly secure the radiant barrier.

  3. When installing the next row of radiant barrier, overlap the existing row approximately 2 inches and staple. NOTE: It’s perfectly fine for the radiant barrier to sag a bit as long as you don’t leave any gaping openings between each row.

  4. If you have gable walls (exterior vertical side walls of your roof), you will need to cover them as well in the same manner.

  5. For all roof exhaust vents and gable wall vents, cut out the section of radiant barrier directly adjacent to the vent cutting it approximately 6 inches wider than the vent itself. This is crucial to allow your current ventilation vents to have access to the entire attic space for proper venting of moisture out of your attic space.
